This Week – Embossed Hearts for Cookies, Decorations & Plaques
These Pavoni Plunger cutters make creating patterned cookies, decorations and plaques quick and simple. The small one at 4.5cm across is perfect for bite size cookies, and together, between the two sizes you can create cupcake decorations, side plaques and cake toppers. Just remember, if you want the decoration to stand up use a modelling paste, otherwise keep it edible and use sugarpaste or marzipan.
1. To create icing plaques and decorations from sugarpaste, firstly dab your work surface with a cornflour pouch. Knead the icing until smooth and pliable then roll out to about 2mm in thickness. Position the plunger on top of the icing, press the cutter down to cut out the heart then push the plunger down to emboss it. Remove the cutter then carefully lift up your heart decoration, move to one side and leave to dry.
2. Painting the heart decorations gold gives them a really luxurious finish.
