We love the shape of the Jem ‘Pop It’ teddy cutter set, and don’t forget, you get 2 moulds which means you get double the use – teddies for cupcakes and cakes! We have found the best icing to use is Sattina Perfect Paste which stays nice and malleable for pushing into the moulds but still sets firm enough to decorate and paint. The generic shape of the teddies means that you can adapt them to suit many occasions including a Valentine’s Day teddy, Care Bear, panda, Mr & Mrs Teddy, Christening bears and so on – the ideas are endless!

1.

These moulds are so simple to use, they are even easier if used with a Jem roller pad or the PME Foam Flower Making Pads which also have different size holes. First, dab the mould with a cornflour pouch, insert the cutter into the pad and place a cone shaped ball of paste inside the head to ensure all the features are embossed. Flatten the paste completely over the cutter and roll over once in one direction with a rolling pin to avoid distortion. Clean the edges with your finger and remove the teddy from the mould using a scriber needle. Dust away any excess cornflour and leave the teddy to dry ready for decorating.

The teddy has a heart on its tummy, perfect for an engagement or Valentine’s Day cake or cupcakes. You can paint the heart with red food colouring or cut out the same size heart in red icing and attach it with a little edible glue. Here we have added red heart bunting around the sides of the cake teamed with icing red bows. Finish with matching ribbon and display in a cellophane box.

These teddy moulds are ideal for creating cute toppers! Add accessories such as a veil and top hat for a wedding cake or anniversary cake.

Use different colours for your teddies for special occasions, such as baby pink and blue for a first birthday, Christening or baby shower and you can always mix the teddy toppers with other decorations like booties, cute ducks and cut out numbers.
